HOUSTON - People traveling through Houston's airports are getting a special holiday gift from Google: free Wi-Fi.
Travelers will be able to access the Internet with a Wi-Fi-enabled laptop or mobile device at George Bush Intercontinental and Hobby airports without charge through Jan. 15.
The Houston Airport System normally charges $7.95 per day for Wi-Fi access.
"We're very happy to extend our Holiday Wi-Fi gift to the millions of people who will spend time in airports over the next few months," said Marissa Mayer, vice president of Search Products and User Experience at Google. "We know that this is a very hectic travel season for people, and we hope that free Wi-Fi will make both traveling and connecting with friends and family a little bit easier."
Google is offering free Wi-Fi at 47 participating airports and on on Virgin America flights. Other airports in Texas participating are in Austin, El Paso and San Antonio.
