Cal Poly faculty members are on the cutting edge of oceanic research.
The Cal Poly Center for Coastal Marine Sciences is set to launch a special underwater vehicle Tuesday, called the Remus 600. Cal Poly is the first U.S. academic institution to receive the vehicle.
Faculty says the unmanned, underwater vehicle will help with oceanic research for the U.S. Department of Defense.
The launch will take place at the Cal Poly pier in Avila Beach between 10:00a.m. and 2:00p.m.
