New Scratch-off Tickets on Sale Tuesday, Some Find Theme Offensive
More news from your region |
Four new scratch-off tickets will be on sale Tuesday in the Natural State but not everybody is excited about it.
Three of the four have a holiday theme and are named Holiday Cash, Candy Cane Cash and Stocking Stuffer.
Jerry Cox is the executive director of Family Council and an outspoken opponent of the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery. He believes the holiday theme is offensive.
"Christmas and gambling just don't seem to mix," he said. "Well we have Christmas tickets, are we going to have Easter tickets? Are we going to celebrate all the holidays with the lottery?"
David Barden is the vice president of the Scholarship Lottery. He said the themes will be seasonal.
"We're trying to pick things that aren't religious in nature. As you'll see with the Stocking Stuffer ticket, it's more of a stocking than a holiday event," he said.
