A Scott County man who police say confessed to murdering his parents and then later asked that the confession be thrown out made a court appearance Monday.

James Anthony Gray is accused of fatally shooting his parents, James and Vivian Gray, at their home in April 2007. On Monday, defense attorneys tried to show that police unfairly coerced Gray to confess. A police officer recounted some of that confession in the courtroom, saying that Gray said that he shot his father then his mother, and that he had "just snapped."

The judge in the case will hear more testimony later this month before making a decision. Gray could be sentenced to death if he is convicted.
