DETROIT - There's a lot of mess to clean up on Detroit's west side after a truck slammed into some cars and a church Monday.

Detroit police said a man initially hit two cars near Fenkell and Lesure streets, turned around and landed in the side of Word of God Ministries.

There were two people inside the church building at the time of the crash, one of whom was thrown into the debris and suffered a minor injury.

Church members said they had only been leasing the building for two months, and were only just approved for insurance Friday.

The roof has just been fixed and other renovations are currently under way for the building.

"We're refurbishing this building. And he was in the midst of doing that when the truck just came through the wall, " said Rochelle McAdoo, the church's pastor's wife. "We just pray that he's all right. And we're going to continue to go forward and try to be a blessing over here. Things happen and we just pray that our deacon and that individual is OK."

The driver of the truck is in stable condition, suffering a broken arm.

Police said the driver is facing charges.
