NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Several new sites, all of which are close to downtown, are under consideration for construction of a new Nashville Sounds baseball stadium.

The Nashville mayor's office confirmed Monday that one site would be located on the east side of the river, not far from LP Field.

Also under consideration is the site of the old thermal plant along the Cumberland River, which has been discussed before and is already part of a greater revitalization plan.

In addition, there is the possibility that the stadium could be located behind the state Capitol, where parking lots are currently located.

Greer Stadium, the current home of the Sounds, has had improvements made over the last year, but in the past there was concern that if the team didn't upgrade, its future in Nashville could be in jeopardy.
