NDSU groups takes on texting behind-the-wheel

A group of NDSU students is pushing a pledge on drivers not to text and drive after a recent survey of students said 76 percent of them admit to doing just that.
The campaign "Spread the Word, Protect the Herd" started today with a graphic public service announcement of a simulated texting while driving crash that's popular on YouTube. It carries an important message -- that texting has been shown to impair drivers worse than intoxication does.
Minnesota is one of 18 states that has a law forbidding texting while driving. North Dakota's legislature shot down a similar bill in the last session, but Fargo Police say you can still be ticketed with careless driving.
