Health Care Reform Now Up To The Senate

WASHINGTON (Indiana's NewsCenter) - After narrowly passing in the House, health care reform now lies in the hands of the Senate.

The version that passed over the weekend includes a government health insurance plan.

Indiana's Senior Senator Richard Lugar, argues against the cost of the bill and expects a lengthy fight.

Senator Lugar says, “The fact is in attempting to pay for it, we are likely to cause another economic recession, or problems with the dollar.”

Senator Evan Bayh is calling for full transparency on health care legislation and issued the following statement:

"There is a lot of cynicism about Washington, D.C., these days, and regrettably a lot of it is justified,"

"If you do things behind closed doors, it just feeds that cynicism.

I hope there is no disagreement that the public has the right to know, to understand, and to see how their tax dollars are being used and their health care is being affected."
