The man, named Daniel, survived the attack by the men who robbed him at gunpoint.

"You can't dodge a bullet, you just can't dodge a bullet," he said.

The attack happened outside Daniel's home on the northeast side late Sunday night as he walked from the grocery store. The 33-year-old father showed Eyewitness News how it happened.

"I bumped into this bush and then I bumped into one of the guys. I said, 'Excuse me, I am sorry. I am blind'," he said.

He said one of the men put a gun to his head and ordered him to look down. The other robber stole his groceries, rental movies and more than $200 from his pocket.

"That was my bill money I had for this week. It's gone. But it's better than using my life," Daniel said.

"To take advantage of someone who can't see very well and take their groceries and things like that is pretty ruthless," said IMPD Lt. Jeff Duhamell.

The suspects ran away on Shortridge Road and Daniel called 911.

"I have been mugged. I am blind, I am scared to death, ma'am. I am blind and I have never been mugged in my life," he told the dispatcher. "They put a gun to my head. Oh my God, oh my God, I am shaken up."

He says all he could think about during the robbery was his six-year-old son.

"If they had hurt me, my son would have had nobody," he said.

Daniel says the two robbers not only took his groceries and money, but also his sense of security. Especially since one of them told the other to shoot him in the face.

"I was going up here to go inside and I heard the guy say, 'Shoot him in the face, shoot him in the face.' The guy said no," he said.

After having a gun to his head, a sign at Daniel's home that reads "Live well. Love much. Laugh often" means so much more.

"I am scared to go out of the house now. I am scared for my son. That's horrible," he said.

Police are trying to determine if the suspects are responsible for any other attacks. Anyone with information about the attack on Daniel is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.
