Crews Investigate Overturned Boat

Rescue crews were called to the Des Moines River on Monday on a report of an overturned boat.

The water rescue teams from Pleasant Hill and Des Moines were at the 5600 block of Vandalia Road.
They were called to the scene at 11:25 a.m.
Crews found a boat floating upside down in the river. It was "bent up" witnesses said.
Pleasant Hill assistant fire chief Ivan Williams said the boat belonged to the Iowa Department of Transportation. DOT workers were inspecting the Highway 65 Bridge when their boat capsized.
None of the workers were injured in the incident.
