Buffalo, NY (WKBW) -- The Powell family's new home will be outfitted entirely with new furniture and accessories all from the locally owned Ashley Furniture Home Store in Orchard Park. Tonight, we have a preview of the "look" the designers are striving for in the new home on Massachusetts Avenue.
Designer Michael Moloney is working on the plan for the living room and dining room. "They're talking about using our accessories, the furniture, really completing the look and that's what we're about," said Audra Kane, Corporate Trainer for Ashley Furniture Home Store in Orchard Park.
The store's local owners have agreed to donate all of the furniture for the Powell family's new home on Massachusetts Avenue in Buffalo. They are excited to be a part of the hit TV show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition because they can do their part to help out a local family. "We're going to donate all the furniture in the house for the living room, dining room, we're going to donate all the accessories," said Tom Kane, Managing Partner at Ashley Furniture Home Store.
Moloney walked around the Amelia Drive store Sunday afternoon, checking out items with show designer Anne Cummings. The pair seemed to focus in on the store's contemporary section discussing furniture and accessory combinations that will make the Powell family feel at home. The store owners are trying to accomodate the design team in every possible way.
"We're even opening up the warehouse to him, the product that we don't even have out yet, so we're really excited for him to take a look at the artwork, the rugs, the lamps, again just completing the entire look for the family," said Audra Kane.
ABC crews were not on site today filming the shopping expedition, so you just got to see an inside look at what goes into planning the design effort, exclusively here on Channel 7. The family will get to see their new home, complete with new furniture, next weekend but the episode itself won't air for a few months.
