The Franklin County Sheriff's Department found out the budget is taking half a million dollar hit due to the recession and a lack of tax revenue income.
One deputy who was recently hired says he will be laid off at the beginning of January. Cutting three deputies will take the department back to the same amount it had in the late 1970's.
"When I'm working I try not to think about it cause I don't want it to effect the way I work but, when you're off, and you're going to take your family to dinner, you think about it," Deputy George Rapp said.
