Bicyclist dies in Huntington Beach accident

HUNTINGTON BEACH – Coroners have identified the victim of a Saturday afternoon bicycle accident as Christopher Alan Winkel, 26.

Police responded to reports that a bicyclist was injured near the intersection of Brookhurst Street and Banning Avenue around 2:26 p.m. on Saturday. When police arrived, Winkel was lying unconscious on the sidewalk. He was taken to Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian, where he was pronounced dead.
