If you want to purchase a Victorian home all you need is a dollar.

UC Berkeley officials are soliciting bids on historical Victorian homes located on a part of campus that the university would like to develop. Bids start at $1.

However, you then need to cash out on a $50,000 deposit to relocate the home because UC Berkley officials plan to use the empty campus space for a new building.

Also the buyer will not have the pleasure of moving into a referbished 3,000-square-foot home, according to UC Berkeley Communications Director for Facilities Services Christine Shaff.

The Contra Costa Times reports that both structures no longer provide any use to the college but they will hopefully be of use for someone else.

It was over 100 years ago when the structures were erected and they are considered historical landmarks.

The moving date is set for May 15, 2010. Anyone who is interested in buying is expected to turn in their proposoal on Nov. 16.
