Why open a Microsoft store in O.C.?

The future of technology can be found at Mission Viejo's mall.

On a wing of the center sits a five-year-old retail outlet from tech innovator Apple -- currently closed for a pre-holiday-shopping refurbishing -- and a new shop from industry giant Microsoft, whose dominance is challenged by Apple and others. Curiously, this is the only place in the world where the two computing powerhouses compete on this customer-centric level under the same roof.
