The Sarpy-Cass Health Department is giving people in high-risk groups for the H1N1 flu virus a chance to get vaccinations on Saturday.

Officials are holding a free clinic in Bellevue until noon at the Calvary Christian Church.

Dozens of people were waiting in line at the site long before the doors opened. At the last vaccination clinic, some people had to be turned away.

"We got here just after 5 a.m.," said Tony Rabiola. "Just a good opportunity to get the shot."

Renee Smith said people she knows have been very careful to protect themselves.

"A lot of extra hand-washing, using hand sanitizers," she said. "I don't want to give it to somebody and I don't want to get it from somebody. It's easily spread, so it's better safe than sorry."

She said her health institution hasn't received the vaccine yet, so she was happy it was available at this clinic.

Michelle Grangenette brought her daughter to the clinic.

"I wanted to make sure she didn't continue to be exposed and not protected," Grangenette said.

Her daughter wasn't so excited about getting up so early on a Saturday.

"I was tired and I was worried because I don't like shots that much," she said.

The vaccinations were only available to residents of Sarpy and Cass counties who are in high-risk groups for H1N1 flu. The high-risk group includes young children, pregnant women, health care workers and people with existing medical conditions that increase their risk.

"I have a sister that her immune system is really down and we do a lot with her, so I feel the need to not want to get her sick because that's not good for her," said Kim Cleever.

After it was over, mother Casey Kralik said the trip was worth it.

"We got in right away and she took it like a trooper and we waited, and no reaction, so we're good to go," Kralik said.

Sarpy and Cass counties plan another H1N1 vaccination clinic in Weeping Water on Nov. 12.
