HOLLISTER, Calif. - KSBW.com
Health officials in San Benito County will not be conducting a mass vaccination clinic for the H1N1 vaccine because of limited supplies.
A vaccination clinic was scheduled on Nov. 17 at the Veteran's Memorial Building.
The public health department will have H1N1 vaccinations by appointment at the county health department during the next several weeks.
The department is currently redistributing H1N1 vaccines to local physician offices but will keep a supply for use by public health.
County health officials are recommending that residents check with their primary health care provider for vaccine availability prior to contacting the health department to make an appointment.
Health officials are prioritizing the vaccine for the following target groups:
- Anyone ages 6 months to 24 years.
- Pregnant women.
- Anyone who lives with or provides care for infancies under 6 months of age (e.g. parents, siblings, and daycare providers).
- Health care workers and emergency response personnel.
- Anyone ages 25 through 64 with certain medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza-related complications (asthma, immunosuppressant, diabetes, or heart or lung disease).
