LOUISVILLE, Ky. - WLKY.com
New information was released Friday about a slaying victim whose body a man said he found stuffed inside a suitcase.
Dorie Eppler was found dead near a Dumpster on Thursday in the 200 block of East Kentucky Street.
An autopsy was performed Friday on the 45-year-old’s body.
The coroner's office said they will not release the results of the autopsy per the request of homicide detectives.
Those detectives are trying to figure out who killed Eppler.
While the circumstances surrounding Eppler's death are still a bit fuzzy, the details about her life are becoming clearer.
"She's very generous, kind-hearted, soft-spoken," said Eppler’s friend, who asked not to be identified.
According to Eppler’s friend, she and Eppler grew up in west Louisville and went to school together.
She said the Dorie Eppler she knew is not the same person she knew recently.
"She had some real serious issues going on in her life in the last 10 years with drugs and alcohol, and I know she didn't have her children. It's still no reason for someone to do her like that," said the friend.
WLKY spoke to the man who discovered Eppler’s body.
"I noticed a suitcase up under the tree, behind the Dumpster,” said Clemmie Flagg. “I went and opened the bag and seen a young lady stuffed up in a fetal position stuffed up in a suitcase."
Police are not confirming Eppler’s body was found in a suitcase, only that she was slain.
The discovery devastated Eppler's coworkers.
A manager at Ollie's Trolley said she worked there for about 12 years and during that time, this she said she watched her friend's life veer off-track.
Anyone with information about who may be responsible, call the anonymous tip line at 574-LMPD.
Police are very tight-lipped about the investigation. They have not released any details about how Eppler was killed, where the crime occurred, or when it happened.
Thursday night, LMPD's crime scene unit collected evidence from Eppler’s apartment about two blocks from where her body was found.
