Several fire companies responded a massive fire in Parma around 1:15 a.m. The house, which is located at 4 West Creek Road, was built less than a year ago. The Hilton Fire Chief says that the family moved into the house in March.

The mother called 911 from inside the house. She, her four children and an uncle made it out safely. The father was not home at the time.

The family had two pets; a dog and a cat. The cat was found under a dresser and rescued. It is expected to be ok. There is no word if the dog survived the fire.

It took firefighters several hours to control the blaze, and they battled the fire from both inside and outside the house.

The fire chief say the fire started near a first floor wood-burning fireplace. Last night was the first time the family used the fireplace.

He also says the house is unlivable and will probably be torn down.
