Car Chase In Itasca County Leads To Arrest

Itasca County Sheriff Deputies had taken two males parties into custody early Wednesday morning, November 4th, for the theft of a motor vehicle and other property from the Itasca County Sheriff’s Impound lot.

The Sheriff stated a Deputy was traveling west on Itasca County Rd 21 at approximately 4:30 am when he observed two vehicles traveling east on County Road 21.

The Deputy recognized one of the vehicles as a vehicle that was in the Sheriff’s Impound lot and tried to pull the car over.

The driver did not stop, and a chase ensued.

The vehicle pursuit went approximately nine miles before the vehicle went into the ditch on Us Highway 2 approximately eight miles east of Grand Rapids.

The suspect fled on foot into the woods.

Deputies located the suspect in a wooded area a short distance from the vehicle.

Charges are pending.
