Spartanburg County deputies said that when they were called to a Greer home about a domestic disturbance, they found it so filthy and roach infested, they had to put on protective gear before they could go inside.
Amy Coleman told deputies that her boyfriend, Jeffrey Booker, had beaten her with a baseball bat and had knocked her to the floor and choked her and threatened her with a sword. The couple has two children who were in the home at the time.
Coleman told deputies she was able to escape to a neighbor's house with the youngest child.
Deputies said when they looked into the couple's trailer, they saw roaches crawling everywhere. They said there was no edible food in the refrigerator, and that it also had live roaches inside it. They said that there was a basket of dirty clothes on the floor that had visible mold growing on it. The deputies said there were roaches on a broken stove, and all over the mattresses and clothing in the trailer.
The children and Coleman were transported to the Villages of Pelham Hospital. The children were placed in emergency protective custody and were taken to a shelter.
