7 Charged In Randolph County Drug Investigation

RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. - WXII12.com
A local cattle farmer, several family members and associates were arrested and charged last Friday in connection with a drug investigation.
Authorities in Randolph County said they had been investigating William Randy Burgess, 61, of William Burgess Road, and his son, William Ray Burgess, 41, after doing surveillance on the two.
Deputies said they seized several pounds of high-grade marijuana, cash, guns and two vehicles. The value of the seized drugs was $56,000.
William Randy Burgess and William Ray Burgess were both charged with various drug charges involving marijuana.
Paula Phillips Burgess, 40; William Michael Burgess, 21; Shauna Nicole Burgess, 17; Michael Dwight Hicks, 40; and Junior Calvin Saunders II, 46, were also charged as a part of the investigation.
Deputies said William Ray Burgess and Paula Phillips Burgess are married and William Michael Burgess and Shauna Nicole Burgess are the couple's children. Deputies said they found marijuana in both children's rooms.
In addition to being a farmer, William Randy Burgess is also the owner of Burgess Hauling. Deputies said he was also arrested in the 1990's on drug charges.
Randolph County deputies said they were assisted in the investigation by officers from the Liberty Police Department, High Point Police Department and the State Bureau of Investigation.
