Lincoln police arrested a woman Tuesday they said posed as a paralegal and took $1,000 from another woman for legal services.
Huong Dao, 27, has been charged with felony theft by deception.
According to police, Dao represented herself as a paralegal for Berry Law Firm and accepted the money from a woman seeking a divorce.
The woman spoke little English.
Police said Dao never gave the money to Berry Law Firm nor started a legal process of any kind.
Dao has never worked for the firm, police said.
The alleged theft happened in August.
