Sowell Suspected Of Committing California Rape

CLEVELAND - Anthony Sowell spent time in California while he was in the Marines.

Police there are now investigating an unsolved rape from 1979.

Officials said they were surprised that the alleged victim recognized Sowell 31 years later.

It has not been confirmed whether Sowell actually lived in Coronado, but officials are checking with the military. Those records, however, may have been purged.

So far, the woman’s name is not being released.
