Lansing, Mich. - Some Michigan lawmakers are pushing for what could be controversial legislation.

Wednesday, the House Speaker Pro Tempore Pam Byrnes, a Democrat, introduced a bill to amend the state constitution to allow same-sex marriage and recognize same-sex marriages from other states.

Both chambers would have to pass the resolution to place the amendment on the ballot for the 2010 general election.
