Fargo K9 recognized for drug work
Fargo K9 team Earl and handler Officer George Vinson are being recognized by the U.S. Police Canine Association for narcotics work.
Among the cases the team worked was one the night of July 29. Earl was called to check a suspicious package at the post office and alerted to one for containing marijuana. A search warrant was obtained and the package turned out to be three pounds of pot wrapped in plastic and covered with mustard.
Further investigation of the case had Earl alerting to another four pounds of pot, half a pound of meth and more than $8,800 in cash. The case turned up ecstasy pills and more marijuana in a vehicle.
Earl and Vinson are one of three K9 teams on the Fargo Police Department, which last year recovered 191 pounds of marijuana, 52 grams of methamphetamine, 25 gramsof cocaine, five grams of mushrooms, five doses of LSD, 12 grams of hash oil, $35,900 in cash seizures and $50,000 in property seizures.
