Authorities Seek Massillon Bank Robber

MASSILLON, Ohio - Authorities in Massillon are seeking a man who robbed a FirstMerit Bank on Wednesday.

The robbery occurred around 10:45 a.m. at the bank on Lincoln Way West.

Police said the man jumped the counter, went to each work station and demanded money and then fled the bank. Police recovered currency behind an apartment complex about 80 to 100 yards away.

It appears that the suspect had a semiautomatic weapon. The gun did not discharge.

The suspect is described as a white man, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall and 179 to 190 pounds. He was wearing a baseball cap, a dark coat and white shoes.
