A bicycle ride has been planned in honor of Dave Sherman, the rider who was struck and killed Oct. 25 while riding in Guilford County.
The 25- and 50-mile route ride is being held Nov. 15, starting at The Fitness Center at High Point Regional Hospital. The ride is free, but organizers said donations will be accepted and will be given to Yield to Life, an organization that promotes cycling safety.
Sherman, 55, of Summerfield, was riding south along Church Street when he was struck and killed by a vehicle being driver by 48-year-old Grayson Dawson, of Eden, troopers said. Troopers said Dawson drove away from the scene.
Sherman, who was married with two adult children, was an employee at Sealy Mattress Company.
