Official: Dead Dogs Case Goes Beyond Windsor Heights

WINDSOR HEIGHTS, Iowa - THEIOWACHANNEL.com
Officials continued to sort evidence Wednesday in an animal neglect case involving allegations of the illegal brokering of puppies.
Officials said search warrants were executed Tuesday at 6530 Elmcrest Dr. in Windsor Heights.
The investigation involves officers from Windsor Heights, Urbandale, the Polk County Attorney’s Office, Polk County Animal Control, the Animal Rescue League and the Iowa Department of Agriculture.
Officials said the case involves allegations of animal neglect/cruelty, fraud, and forgery of veterinary records. The investigation was launched after anonymous complaints were received by Windsor Heights police.
Capt. Dennis McDaniel said four dead dog were taken from the home on Tuesday. Tests will be performed on the dogs by Iowa State University experts.
McDaniel said "there was not a puppymill in Windsor Heights."
McDaniel said the dogs came from another location and investigation spans beyond Windsor Heights
