Officers said a man entered the Family Dollar store at Paddock Road and Vine Street just after 4 p.m., showed a gun and demanded money.

About 30 minutes after the robbery, police stopped a car at the Sunoco station at Galbraith and Daly roads in North College Hill matching one seen leaving the scene.

Officers said they found Maurice Jefferson II, 23, of Covington, wearing clothing that matched a description given at the scene, a handgun in his waistband and a wad of cash.

Police also arrested a second man, Deonte Smith, 22, of Walnut Hills, who was in the car.

Jefferson is being held on four counts of aggravated robbery and one count each of illegally possessing a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon. He's accused of robbing another Family Dollar store last Friday and a UDF earlier in the month.

Jefferson was previously convicted in a 2002 carjacking case and served 3.5 years before being released in January.

Smith is facing an aggravated robbery charge and a drug possession charge.
