As vaccines for the H1N1 flu are just becoming available, the Centers for Disease Control has set priorities for the first people to receive the nasal mist or shots:
- Pregnant women
- People who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age
- Health care and emergency medical services personnel
- Persons between the ages of 6 months and 24 years old
- People ages of 25 through 64 years of age who are at higher risk for 2009 H1N1 because of chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems
As of midday Monday, here is the availability of H1N1 flu vaccines around northeast Florida:
Currently has limited quantities of H1N1 vaccine, and are only vaccinating those who meet the CDC guidelines. Duval just had its 13th death related to the virus on Oct 24, 2009.

Other vaccination locations not related to DCHD are Solantic and Walgreen's.
They are actively monitoring H1N1 and are vaccinating those who meet the CDC guidelines. St Johns has two deaths from Swine Flu. They have a vaccination clinic for school-aged children only, beginning Monday and until they run out. Parents must be present to provide authorization. The vaccine will be available at the following schools from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the given dates: Pedro Menendez High School on Nov. 14, Landrum Middle School on Nov. 21, Bartram Trail High School on Dec. 5, and Sebastian Middle school on Dec. 12.

No health department flu clinics this week, although Clay County schools will begin immunizing students with permission slips on Tuesday. The schools are Rideout Elementary, Swimming Penn Creek Elementary, Clay Hill Elementary and McRae Elementary
officials are awaiting H1N1 shots and will notify the public when they are ready to hold another clinic.
Free clinics on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Immunizations are by appointment with the
Nassau County Health Department
and only for CDC-identified risk groups.

Immunized close to 300 individuals on Saturday at the Baker County High School gymnasium.
says it has no clinics scheduled at this time, but with the few vaccines they have left, they are accepting appointments by phone for people in the CDC targeted groups. Baker County residents can call 904-259-6291 for an appointment.
Expecting to begin vaccinating school kids this week, but no details available. Call 386-326-3200 ext. 3254 for information.

The University of Florida will be administering 800 flu vaccines beginning Wednesday, Nov. 4. Students must register online at

- Beginning Wednesday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
