The Maui Police Department arrested a 40-year-old man authorities said imported packages of powdered cocaine to the Valley Isle from California in recent years.
Police arrested the Lahaina man on charge of promoting a dangerous drug
Authorities said they received information about packages sent to Maui. Maui police opened one of the packages after obtaining a search warrant. The investigation netted about 1 pound of powered cocaine and drug paraphernalia, officials said.
The estimated value of the drugs was $540,000, police said.
Despite the find, police released the man pending further investigation.
The prosecutor's office will review the case, police said.
