DEA Agents Seize Marijuana From Fairfield Business

FAIRFIELD, Ohio - WLWT.com

Authorities seized more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana Monday from a Fairfield business that agents believe was a front for drug trafficking.

Agents from the Drug Enforcement Agency, the Butler County Sheriff's Department and the Cincinnati police vice squad seized 600 to 700 pounds of marijuana from Azteca Tile & Marble, and authorities said they also seized about 400 pounds of marijuana a few days prior.

The value of the seized drugs was estimated at $1.5 million, authorities said.

DEA agents said they had been investigating the company since June, and agents said the drugs were coming from Houston to Fairfield to be distributed on the streets of Cincinnati.

"This was a distribution point, a local distribution point," said DEA agent Russ Neville. "Once they were delivered, a person took custody of them and put them in a van and started to drive away, and that's when we stopped him and arrested him."

Authorities arrested one man, whose name was not released, but the DEA said more arrests were expected.
