Man dies after being shot in Las Vegas parking lot

Police in Las Vegas say a man has been fatally shot in a residential parking lot after he took his children inside his apartment.

Police Sgt. Russ Shoemaker says the 40-year-old man was shot Saturday evening at the Shepherd Hills apartment complex in Las Vegas and later died at a hospital.

Investigators say the man had taken his children to his apartment and returned to his car in the

parking lot when he was shot. The man's identity has not been released.
