100 straight days of running

FOOTHILL RANCH In the last 100 days, I have often smelled like burning licorice, which is my unsuccessful attempt to describe the toxic aroma the liniment "Icy Hot" leaves wherever I go.

I rub it on my ankles, on my calves, on my knees. I am creaky these days. Sometimes, I feel like a baseball glove that just came out of the freezer. I have no illusions about the powers of Icy Hot, but it feels good to be smelly.
