When crews arrived on scene, they found flames coming from the back of the home.

Fire investigators say they found Kay Isaac, 71, inside when they entered the front room of the house.

She was taken to Catawba Medical Center and then was transffered to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem where she has been admitted to the burn unit.

Her condition is unknown at this time but is said to be stable at this point.

As fire fighters went through the home they found another man, Charles Isaac, 40, in a back bedroom.

He was also taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Fire officials say that both victims were mother and son.

Investigators tell NewsChannel 36 they believe a lit cigarette started the fire.

They also say there appeared to be no smoke detectors in the home.
