SPRINGHILL TOWNSHIP, Pa. - THE PITTSBURGH CHANNEL.com
A bridge in Fayette County partially collapsed Saturday morning when a tanker truck carrying propane attempted to cross, Fayette County emergency officials told WTAE Channel 4 Action News.
Officials said the truck was crossing a bridge on Larman Hill Road in Springhill Township at about 10:15 a.m. when the bridge partially collapsed, causing the truck's back tires to drop into in a stream.
"We're going to offload the propane and then deal with the truck that fell later," said Randall Leech, of the Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department.
The bridge -- made mostly of wooden planks -- connects Springhill and Nicholson townships.
Some sort of fluid, either brake fluid or propane, leaked from the truck into the stream, officials said. The truck remained struck in the broken wooden planks. The road will remain closed to traffic for repairs.
There were no injuries reported.
