HASTINGS, Minn. (AP) -- A former Stillwater police officer accused of attempted criminal sexual conduct has been acquitted.
A Washington County jury found Scott Geving of Marine on St. Croix not guilty Thursday.
Geving says he's relieved and thankful for the support his family and friends have given him.
He was accused of making unwanted advances on a motel worker last year while he was on duty and in uniform.
The 47-year-old employee testified that she knew Geving before the alleged incident, which she says started with a consensual kiss.
Defense attorney Earl Gray told jurors the woman's allegations were lies, and said her testimony was inconsistent with her statements to police.
Geving still faces a felony harassment charge from an unrelated case in 2006.
