Study: California sets among highest math, reading standards

California's testing standards for public school students in reading and math are tougher than in most states, a National Center for Education Statistics study reveals.
Thefederal report released todaycompared the rigor of different states' standards from 2007 on their own tests, the California Standards Tests here, and also to state performance on National Assessment of Education Progress, dubbed NAEP or the Nation's Report Card exams.
