The local 2009-2010 winter season will be about 3 percent colder than normal, according to the annual forecast by

Winter was 1 percent colder than normal in the 2008-09 season.

Total snowfall will be about 1 inch higher than normal this winter. Our predicted total of 41.7 inches is more than the normal amount of 40.6 inches, and most of that snow is likely to fall in January and March. (Last winter's total hit 41.0 inches.)
