The University of Mississippi Medical Center was administering swine flu vaccines to full-time faculty, staff, students and volunteers, UMC officials said.
The vaccines were being given on a voluntary basis, UMC officials said.
Nearly 130,000 swine flu vaccines, which include nasal mist and injections, arrived in the state earlier this month. The vaccines have been delivered to physicians and hospitals to be administered to high-risk patients, including pregnant women, children under 5 and hospital patients, health officials said.
The vaccines have not yet been made available to the general public, health officials said.
State health officials reported 1,200 cases of swine flu in Mississippi with eight deaths. There have been 135 seasonal flu cases reported since April 27, health officials said.
