For Britta Wasloff, honesty is still the best policy, and a woman who lost her 2-carat engagement ring is grateful.

Heather Moran, 35, of Bethel, lost her heirloom engagement ring on Oct. 20 when she was out running errands, the News-Times reports.

Not only does the ring have monetary value, being two carats and all, but it also has sentimental value. Moran received it from her husband John 11 years ago. She had recently lost weight and the ring does not fit as snugly as it once did.

The mother of three said, "I ransacked my car, I retraced every step and went to all the stores where I'd been. I left my name and telephone number. Everybody was so nice, but nobody had it," she told the News-Times.

That's where Wasloff, a retired legal secretary and part-time employee at Walmart, came in. She found the ring in the Newtown Road store.

"I asked around, but nobody knew anything. So I took it home, but I knew it had to belong to someone who would miss it," Wasloff told the News-Times.

Since Moran had called earlier asking if anybody had found it, the store had Moran's number, called her and returned the ring.

Wasloff said it felt good to be thanked.

"She gave me a big hug. I actually had tears in my eyes to see someone so appreciative."
