Three late-night robberies -- including one where the thief wore a Halloween mask -- were reported within a couple of hours overnight in Shadyside and East Liberty.
Investigating officers at the Zone 4 and Zone 5 police stations have not said whether they believe any of the three incidents are related. Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Diane Richard said the first robbery happened around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday outside the Walgreens store on
Penn Circle
.
The victim told police he was approached by three people, with the shortest one pulling a silver pistol while the tallest went through the man's pockets. They took his wallet and phone and ran away.
All three robbers were described as black males, each about 16 years old. One was about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a medium build. Another was about 5 feet 9 inches and 170 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes, a light complexion and a thin build. No description of the third youth was given.
The second robbery happened about 20 minutes later in the
5900 block of Walnut Street
, where a 26-year-old woman told police that she was approached from behind by someone wearing blue jeans, a black hoodie and a red-and-white Halloween ski mask.
The woman said the Walnut robber pushed a gun into her stomach, and she started screaming, and he yelled expletives back at her and demanded her bag. He ran away with her laptop and phone. No description of him was available.
Shortly after midnight, two people flagged down police officers and said they were robbed at gunpoint by two teenagers -- a boy and a girl -- outside the CVS pharmacy on
Centre Avenue
. The victims said the male teen pulled out a pistol and cursed at them, as he and the girl took all of their belongings and ran toward Morewood Avenue.
Police arrested a 13-year-old girl and 16-year-old boy minutes later.
Both were taken to Shuman Juvenile Detention Center and charged with robbery, receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy, making terroristic threats and possessing instruments of a crime.
No injuries were reported in any of the robberies.
