A balloon release is scheduled to remember a six-year-old boy murdered in Bourbon County.
Family and friends of the Wesley Mullins said a balloon release will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. at Wesley's Place in Paris. The non-profit organization said the release is to honor Wesley just days after the man accused of sodomizing and murdering him, Lewis "Buck" Ballard, was convicted and the jury recommended a life sentence. Police said the 51-year-old Ballard sodomized and killed Mullins while the child was visiting his grandfather's home in 2007. Prosecutors said Ballard killed the boy to keep him from talking about the sexual abuse he suffered at the hands of Ballard.
Everyone is invited to attend the balloon release. Organizers ask you bring your own balloon.
