CANFIELD, Ohio - A Mahoning County couple is facing charges after their two children and several animals were found living in filthy conditions.
It all started when someone contacted police in Canfield to complain about sick-looking dogs at a home.

Police and the Mahoning County dog warden said they found nine dogs and several cats at the home of Brian and Betsy Spin, along with a house full of feces, urine, trash and mold.
They said the couple's two children were also living in those conditions.
"There was so much stuff in this home, and so hard to see, we had to have air packs and containment suits on. When we did get [the animals] out of there, they were in such bad shape that they had to be put down right away," said Mahoning County dog warden Dave Nelson.
Nelson said the feces was 6 to 8 inches thick in some areas of the home.
The couple's two boys are now in the custody of children's services.
An attorney for the Spins filed not guilty pleas to child endangering and animal cruelty Wednesday on the couple's behalf.
