The Clark County coroner says an autopsy failed to confirm a cause of death for a newborn whose mother is accused of smothering the child after giving birth at home.

Coroner Gary Telgelhoff says he found no abnormalities and the baby was not still born. He say the baby's body showed no signs of strangulation.

Telgelhoff's report was part of a preliminary hearing last week for the child's mother in Henderson Justice Court. The hearing continues on Tuesday.

Camerla Camero has been charged with murder. She was arrested Aug. 26, two days after she called St. Rose Dominican Hospital to report the child had died. The hospital called police.

Police say Camero told them she gave birth to the child in the tub, then left it wrapped in towels while she went out to buy clothes and necessities.
