Smyrna Resident Charged In Fatal I-24 Wreck

Second Wreck Happens Hours After Fatal Crash

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Interstate 24 east was partially blocked at Old Hickory Boulevard in Antioch Monday morning, after a second wreck at an earlier fatal crash scene.

The crash happened in the same spot where a suspected drunken driver crashed into an SUV Sunday night, killing one person and seriously injuring two others.

Police said Smyrna resident Kevin Fleet will be face a charge of vehicular homicide in addition to four counts of vehicular assault for causing a crash the Rutherford County line.

Fleet's Ford F-150 slammed into the rear of a Chevrolet Tracker SUV occupied by five persons at 8:10 p.m.

The impact caused the Tracker to run off the road and flip. Two of the rear seat passengers, an adult and a child, were ejected from the Tracker.

The adult, Malindy Raymer, 45, of Arnold Drive in Smyrna, died Monday morning at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The four other persons in the Tracker were also transported to Vanderbilt. They were identified as:

* Terry Raymer (driver), age 24, of Arnold Drive in Smyrna;

* Ontiveros Maurico (front seat passenger), age 23, of Stroop Lane in Smyrna;

* Steven Raymer (rear seat passenger & Terry Raymer’s son), age 4, who was ejected;

* Brandy Raymer, 25 (rear seat passenger), also of Arnold Drive in Smyrna.

Fleet, 41, of Mandarin Court in Smyrna, received minor injuries. Police said he smelled of alcohol and appeared to be intoxicated. A blood sample was obtained at a hospital for alcohol and drug analysis by the TBI Crime Laboratory.

Fleet's bond is set at $75,000.
