NEW YORK - The former fiancee of celebrity chef Todd English has been charged with assault for allegedly hitting him with a metal wrist watch.
Erica Wang pleaded not guilty Friday to second-degree assault. Police say the two were fighting Sept. 14 when she hit him with the watch, cutting his face and causing a black eye. The wound required seven stitches.
The couple was to be married last week. English called off the wedding days before, claiming Wang was abusive. She denied those allegations in an interview with The New York Post.
Wang's lawyer, Charles Clayman, says he believes the two will resolve the matter and go on to lead separate lives. English's representative won't comment.
English has been a guest on Bravo's “Top Chef.” He owns the Olives chain and other restaurants.
