Public Health District to Temporarily Change its Hours of Operation

The Hours of operation for the Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District will change effective Monday, October 19, 2009 until further notice. Health District officials announced today that the change is necessary because of the upcoming mass H1N1 immunizations currently being planned for the community.
In an effort to be better prepared to respond quickly with "mass vaccination clinics" and reach a larger population of citizens, the Health District will be changing their hours to a Tuesday through Saturday work schedule for their employees.
"In anticipation of the arrival of the H1N1 vaccine supply, we are asking the general public for their patience as we transition our staff and services to allow us to be readily available as we begin setting up the vaccination sites," said Annette Rodriguez, Interim Public Health Director.
All Health District services will be closed on Mondays, with services open Tuesday through Friday. "Saturdays will be reserved for the H1N1 mass immunization administrative and training duties as well as for conducting offsite activities, Ms. Rodriguez added.
Hours of operation will include the following:
Environmental & Consumer Health office hours will be Tuesday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Food Handlers Classes will include the following schedule:
* Tuesday: 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
* Wednesday: 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
* Thursday: 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.
Clinical services will include the following schedule:
* Women's Health Services (Breast & Cervical Cancer, Family Planning & Maternity) - Tuesday through Friday 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
* Immunizations - Tuesday through Friday 8 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. by appointment only. Call 826-7238 for an appointment.
* Robstown - Tuesday through Friday 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
* STD/HIV - Tuesday through Friday 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
* TB program - Tuesday through Friday 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Women, Infants and Children's Program (WIC) hours of operation will be:
* Tuesday and Wednesday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
* Thursday and Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Laboratory Services hours will be:
* Tuesday through Friday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. sample submission
Vital Records - Tuesday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Vector Control - Tuesday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Administration/Health Education - Tuesday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Health District officials will announce when they will resume their regularly scheduled Monday - Friday hours of operation. "We apologize for any inconvenience this schedule change may cause but rest assured that this is a genuine effort to vaccinate larger groups of individuals on Saturday, with the goal of mitigating negative H1N1 virus outcomes in our community," said Ms. Rodriguez.
