Jon Gosselin doesn’t practice what he preaches

It seemed as if Jon Gosselin was sending a message that his kids should be protected from cameras when he banned TLC from his home and told Larry King, “it’s not healthy for my kids to be on the show. … it’s detrimental to them.”

But apparently when Gosselin said “the show,” he literally meant only the renamed TLC show “Kate Plus Eight,” as he’s still courting media opportunities that put his kids in front of cameras.

One recent example is his Oct. 8 outing on twins Mady and Cara’s birthday. Jon first picked up a cake for the twins at Cupcake Café in New York (an “Entertainment Tonight” crew documented that event). Then, it was on to pick the twins up from school in Pennsylvania, where cameras recorded the kids getting into the back seat of Jon’s car and Jon interacting with them. Later, when Jon and the twins arrived home, “ET” had a live stream of the event set up at the house.

To be fair, not all the cameras belonged to “ET,” at least in the New York location — some were said to be paparazzi. But TLC confirms that none of the cameras present in New York or any of the cameras that shot the kids in Pennsylvania were theirs.

“We are still filming Kate,” said a rep for the show, “We are not filming the kids.”

A source close to Jon says he has a deal with “ET” that affords the show such access, even during this period when he and Kate are working out details of their divorce.

“He has a deal with ‘ET’ for interviews and they get special access to events, like the twins’ birthday,” said the source. “The terms don’t stipulate that the kids can’t be involved.”

Jon’s attorney Mark Jay Heller did not return calls for comment.

Heigl’s baby had open-heart surgery
When Josh Kelley and Katherine Heigl announced in September that they’d adopted Naleigh, a baby from South Korea with special needs, neither elaborated on what those needs were. Now, Kelley is opening up about Naleigh’s heart surgery that took place before she was adopted.

“Naleigh’s definitely getting stronger, so much so that she’s crawling and starting to pull herself up,” he told Life & Style at the Global Down Syndrome Foundation’s fashion show in Denver on Oct. 10. “She had two holes in her heart when she was born, so she had open-heart surgery when she was 3 months old.”

Naleigh is 11 months old now and Kelley says that he and Heigl aren’t going to stop with one child. “We’ll add to our family eventually,” he told the magazine. “Naleigh’s so good, though, that our next kid is probably going to be a little hellion.”

Revolving door for D.C. ‘Housewives’?

Bravo’s cameras have been spotted at a number of Washington D.C.-area events, which has led to some inevitable chatter about who was selected for the next crop of “Real Housewives of D.C.”

A report in the Washington Post says two candidates are out, though — Lisa Spies, a Republican fundraiser and wife of high-profile lawyer Charlie Spies, and Edwina Rogers, a health care lobbyist.

A rep for the “Real Housewives” series can’t confirm if the two are out, though, because technically, no cast members are even in.

“We announced that we picked up the show and it’s in development, but until Bravo officially announces the cast, then yes, it’s all speculation at this point,” said the rep. The series also has no firm premiere date.
